The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto are seeking an Academic Physiatrist  to lead a vibrant and productive Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto. It is expected that the position will be approximately 50% clinical and 50% research/teaching/quality improvement/administrative. Expected start date is  October 1, 2024 or shortly thereafter.

The Division Head will be a leader and mentor with established skills in the areas of clinical care, administration, education and/or research, clinical innovation and implementation and change management. Major responsibilities for this position will include clinical, administrative and academic leadership; faculty recruitment, mentoring and career development and development of divisional goals and objectives to support the University, Hospital and Department’s strategic initiatives. 

The ideal candidate must have achieved prominence in their own career and will be expected to lead the division in its mandate to deliver excellence in all areas of academic and clinical activities.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, have or be eligible for certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.

Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, clinical work and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The successful candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
