The Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is highly committed to the pursuit of excellence
in clinical care, research and medical education. As a relatively small division, candidates will be expected to demonstrate an appreciation for the breadth of physiatry and have a vision for how to grow it while
demonstrating an ability to work as part of a team.
Clinical care duties may vary according to the interest and expertise of the candidate but must include consultation at the acute care Montreal General Hospital site of the McGill University Health Centre.
Consults focus on trauma patients most of which have traumatic brain injury (TBI). The TBI program has on average 600 admissions per year and 800 to 1000 outpatient visits. There is an established rehabilitation team for inpatient consultation, neuropsychology support for outpatient mild TBI clinics and excellent ties with neuro and trauma surgery. In addition, there are inpatient consultations for spinal cord injury, polytrauma and general rehabilitation. Opportunities also exist to take part in consultations at the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit at the Montreal General Hospital and in Neurological Rehabilitation at the Montreal Neurological Institute.
