Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist – Permanent Opportunity
Horizon Health Network is inviting applications for 2 permanent, full-time Physiatrist with a special interest in Paediatrics, to work with the tertiary neuromotor pediatric team. The positions will be located at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation (SCCR) in Fredericton, the tertiary neurological rehabilitation centre for the province of New Brunswick. This centre is currently the only centre in New Brunswick to offer Paediatric Physiatry services. Pediatric experience is preferred but not mandatory as on-the-job mentoring can occur under our 2 current physicians to develop their career as a Paediatric Physiatrist.
The successful candidate would run a predominantly out-patient service in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team but would manage the rehabilitation needs of pediatric in-patients as needed.
The department is affiliated with Dalhousie University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the University of New Brunswick, facilitating academic appointments. The successful candidate will participate in neurological rehabilitation as well as clinical teaching of medical students and residents. Research activity is encouraged and supported, and the SCCR has a robust interdisciplinary research program.
Compensation will be based on an Alternate Funding Plan which allows incorporation (if desired), and support for continuing education leave and vacation are provided.
The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation https://horizonnb.ca/horizon-services/provincial-program/stan-cassidy-centre-for-rehabilitation/ is New Brunswick’s provincial centre for neurological rehabilitation, for all age groups, including persons with spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, ALS, multiple sclerosis, complicated stroke, cerebral palsy and neuromuscular disorders. With a staff of 150, the SCCR provides inpatient, outpatient, telehealth and outreach interdisciplinary care, as well as specialized services as adapted driving, rehabilitation engineering, and assistive technologies. The Centre is located adjacent to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, an acute care regional hospital in Fredericton New Brunswick.
