Over the years, many members of the CAPM&R have carried out international rehabilitation outreach projects. These projects are focussed on training and increasing education about disability and rehabilitation in underdeveloped and developing regions.

In 2004 the CPRDF Board of Directors, with the support of the CAPM&R, developed the Helping Hands Grant. This grant was created in order to allow CAPM&R members to administer the financial aspects of their humanitarian work. Proposals meeting the guidelines of the program are considered by the CPRDF Board of Directors. The Helping Hands Grant has supported the following projects since its inception:

  1. Healing Hands for Haiti (which has since become Team Canada Healing Hands).
  2. NepalAbility
